The Basics

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a professional skin exfoliation treatment that uses a sterile surgical scalpel to gently remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells and fine vellus hair — commonly known as peach fuzz — from the surface of the face.

The result is skin that is immediately smoother, softer, and more luminous. Skincare products penetrate more effectively, makeup applies flawlessly, and your complexion has a natural, healthy glow that clients love.

Unlike harsh chemical exfoliants or abrasive scrubs, dermaplaning is completely safe for all skin types and requires no downtime — making it one of the most popular treatments at Woodstock Medical Aesthetics.

Instant Glow

By removing the buildup of dead skin cells and peach fuzz, dermaplaning instantly reveals the fresher, brighter skin underneath — giving you a luminous complexion immediately after treatment.

Peach Fuzz Removal

Fine vellus facial hair traps oil, dirt, and makeup. Removing it leaves skin incredibly smooth, allows skincare products to absorb better, and gives makeup an airbrushed, flawless finish.

No Downtime

Dermaplaning requires zero downtime. You can return to all activities immediately — many patients go straight to a special event or back to work right after their appointment.

FAQ

Common questions

Will my hair grow back thicker?
This is the most common myth about dermaplaning — and it is completely false. Vellus hair (peach fuzz) has no follicle change from shaving or dermaplaning. It will grow back at the same rate, the same texture, and the same color. You will not develop coarse hair from dermaplaning.
Does dermaplaning hurt?
Not at all — dermaplaning is one of the most comfortable treatments we offer. Most patients describe it as a gentle scraping sensation, similar to shaving. No numbing cream is needed.
Is dermaplaning safe for sensitive skin?
Yes — dermaplaning is actually one of the best exfoliation options for sensitive skin because it involves no chemicals, heat, or harsh abrasives. It is not recommended for active acne breakouts or inflamed skin.
How often should I get dermaplaning?
Most patients book dermaplaning every 3–4 weeks — which aligns with the skin's natural cell turnover cycle. It can be done as a standalone treatment or combined with a chemical peel or facial for enhanced results.
Can I wear makeup after?
Yes! Many patients love dermaplaning before a big event because makeup applies so beautifully on freshly dermaplaned skin. We recommend waiting a few hours and using clean brushes and products on freshly exfoliated skin.
What is the cost?
Dermaplaning is $75 per session at Woodstock Medical Aesthetics — making it one of our most accessible and rewarding treatments. Ask about combining it with a chemical peel for enhanced results.
